    Stephen Album Rare Coins
    Auction 41
SIKH EMPIRE: AR rupee (11.07g), Kashmir, VS1881, KM-46.7 var, Herrli-—, with the word AKAL sbove the word guru in the reverse center, unpublished and probably unique, PCGS graded XF45, RRR, ex Jess A. Yockers Collection. The word "akal" means "timeless" and is normal on the reverse of almost all silver and gold coins of Amritsar, usually together with "takht", meaning "the throne of the timeless one". The word above the word "guru" refers to the immortality of Gobind Singh. It is also found on the reverse of most silver of Kashmir, but never on the obverse, with the exception of this unique piece.
